“Frohe Weihnachten!” is the new Christmas album from the Berlin Philharmonic Brass. These 17 songs* were released in 2025 on the Berliner Philharmoniker’s own recording label, which takes the listeners on a journey through favourite Christmas songs from the home countries of its members.
From the press material: ‘
“Joshua Davis has arranged the pieces exclusively, sometimes in traditional festive style, sometimes with jazzy and surprising twists, transforming them into luminous delights. The recording was inspired by a celebrated family Christmas concert and complemented by further discoveries from Greece, Ukraine, and Poland. With this album, the ensemble aims to spread joy while also sending a message of peaceful coexistence.
Founded in the 1950s, Berlin Philharmonic Brass consists of twelve brass players and percussionist Franz Schindlbeck. Their performances are marked by the Berliner Philharmoniker’s distinctive sound culture, and they cover repertoire ranging from Baroque works to modern commissions, as well as jazz and pop arrangements. Spontaneity, passion, and close musical collaboration make every concert a unique experience.”
The arrangements from the album will be published in mid-2026, in both brass ensemble and brass band editions. If you would like to be notified when they become available; please register your interest below. More information about the album can be found on the Berliner Philharmoniker's site here.
