This suite of movements from Tchaikovsky’s timeless Christmas ballet The Nutcracker was written for the Berlin Philharmonic Horn Octet for an online concert in December 2020. It was first performed at the Radial System in Berlin featuring Franz Schindlbeck on percussion.
The suite contains the following movements:
- Overture (Swing)
- March (Bossa)
- Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy
- Dance of the Reed Flutes (Tango)
- Waltz of the Flowers (Swing)

Rondo from Horn Concerto Nr. 4 (Brass Quintet)
About
This arrangement of the Rondo from Mozart’s Concerto Nr. 4 for brass quintet is an expansion of a trio version (de 0003) written originally for David Evans; principal horn of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO). It was utilized as a horn feature as part of an education tour undertaken by WASO in 2015.
More recently it was recorded in its trio format by Sarah Willis (horn), Tamás Velenczei (trumpet) and Jesper Busk Sørensen (euphonium) of the Berlin Philharmonic. The recording can be found on YouTube.
The trio version is also available (DE 0003) from Davis Editions.
